2008-2009 Performance Dance Info
This class is by audition only. It is the perfect class for the student who wants a real company/rehearsal experience. Performance dance consists of a short warm-up followed by extensive work on choreography and production.
Performance dance students appear in a Studio A Dancers production, a fundraiser, and the Dancentre year end recital. Performance dance is a big commitment of time and energy.
Performance Dance .... Company Class Friday 6:30 - 7:30 pm
Rehearsal Blocks .... Friday 6:00 - 6:30 pm
Friday 7:30 - 8:30 pm
Sunday 1:30 - 3:30 pm
Dancers should plan to attend company class and will be assigned at least one rehearsal block. While dancers will not have rehearsals every week, they must be available for rehearsals. Mandatory rehearsal dates include: Friday December 12, Sunday 14, Friday January 9, Sunday 11, Friday January 16 and Saturday 17. If there are already family plans in place, that cannot be changed, please do not audition.

We have applied to present the show at East Chapel Hill High. Performance Dance
students should plan to be available Friday 16 from 4:30 - 8:30 and block out all of
Saturday 17 for two performances... 2 and 6 pm.
AUDITIONS
Friday September 5, 2008 6:30 - 8:00 pm
Melody will give the audition class which will consist of a short warm up and then a series of combinations from the show. The dancers that make up the company are chosen by an audition panel based on technique, musicality, ability to pick up combinations, and performance style. Please arrive at the audition in plenty of time to fill out an audition form, get your number, and stretch out a little.
Performance students sign up for the Performance class (1 1/2 hrs) and are required to be enrolled in a jazz or contemporary technique class. The Production fee for Performance dance is $100. This fee may be paid in monthly installments.
Audition results and rehearsal schedule will be posted online Sunday September 7 and at Dancentre Monday September 8. Class and rehearsals will begin with a MANDATORY company meeting Friday September 12, 6:00 - 6:45. Company members and parents will meet for a short orientation and to elect company officers...Then parents will be excused and we’ll start company class and get measured for costumes 6:45 - 8:00 pm.
